St. Mark's Bookshop was established in 1977 in New York City's East Village, a community of students, academics, artists, and other discerning readers. Our specialties include Cultural Theory, Graphic Design, Poetry & Small Press Publishing, Film Studies, and Foreign & Domestic Periodicals and Journals. We are open Monday through Saturday from 11 am until 11 pm, and from noon until 11 on Sunday.
Located at 136 East 3rd Street just west of Avenue A, in the historic First Houses building, we are convenient to the F train at the 2nd Ave station (closer to the 1st Avenue exit), the M14A Select Service Bus on A, and the M15 on 1st Ave. Nearby are also the theaters of East 4th Street, The Neighborhood School, UCBeast, vintage clothing stores, designer boutiques, import shops, gift and specialty shops, as well as dozens of cafes, restaurants and bars. This is our new fourth location, the design of which you can read about here.
On our website, you can check out our latest arrivals, recent store bestsellers, periodicals, remainders, and autographed editions. To your right, you can also search for, order, and purchase every title we carry.
